Smart Design and Engineering Services

Design, building and operating a high performance building is a process as well as product. Our services are dictated by the needs of the client. We offer a variety of services to building owners, architects, facility managers, and design and building contractors for new and existing buildings. These services may include:

  • Assessment of Construction Documents – Smart Buildings will review already established construction plans for new and retrofit buildings for adherence to integration and/or Division 17000 specifications.
    • Review of the major subsystems
    • Recommended changes to existing designs
    • Gaps or overlaps in current design
    • Potential financial effect of recommended changes
    • Summary of Findings and Recommendations
    • Conceptual Technology Platform Design of Systems and Information Management Integration
  • System Assessments – Smart Buildings will conduct site and system assessments including inspections and observations of current systems and facilities to determine and develop integration and/or energy initiatives.
  • Concept Development and Systems/Technology Strategy – Smart Buildings works with clients to establish objectives, strategies and programming priorities regarding Integrated Building Management Systems (IBMS).
  • Schematic Design – We will develop the layout and requirements for the IBMS, including the cabling infrastructure and integration between systems. We work in conjunction with the builder and architect to integrate with building plans.
  • Design Development – Working from the schematic design and additional program requirements, Smart Buildings develops detailed IBMS designs, including technical specifications, floor plans, diagrams, and layouts for the IBMS.
  • Construction Documents – All designs, layouts and engineering plans are prepared in accordance with the construction project requirements.
  • Operational Planning, Commissioning, and Maintenance - Smart Buildings will work with the owner to establish ongoing processes and resources including organize management and staffing needs and prepare IBMS Operation and Procedures Manual.

 

Strategic Consulting - Smart Buildings provides strategic consulting to manufacturers, integrators and other companies entering the IBMS and Energy markets. We aid these companies in understanding the market place, align their products and services to meet customers needs, develop partnerships, and create an overall business strategy.
